Husky One Card Contest
While I was at UConn there was a contest open to students to redesign the student ID cards. All entries would be narrowed down to four finalists, and then students could vote on which of the four they liked best. My design was one of the four finalists, but did not win. All of UConn's ID cards have been horizontal, but I changed it to vertical to address the physical issues of the card and what you use it for (it gets swiped, but in the horizontal format, the act of swiping chips off your picture, which invalidates the card). Although I think it was functionally better, most people said that switching formats was "too much of a change."
